About The Photos

When I’m working on location I am usually out from dark to dark, often the first person on location and the last to leave. I study the light, weather, talk to locals and try to put myself in the place of most potential to provide the opportunity to create photographs with impact. I focus on capturing behavior, peak action and showing the viewer something they have never seen before. Whether the viewer loves or hates my photos I want my work to at least generate some kind of emotional response.

All images displayed on this website were created on either Kodak E100VS slide film or they are digital captures. None of the photos are AI generated. Many of the images have a different shape as a result of being cropped to represent my vision of the best possible presentation of that moment in time.

I have been fortunate to be able to use professional quality Canon camera bodies and lenses with the 28-70mm and 70-200mm for landscapes, 400mm and 600mm for wildlife, Gitzo tripods and a Wimberley gimbal head to support the telephoto lenses.

Regarding photo captions, while I understand some viewers would like to know exactly where every photo was created, it has been my experience, detailed information often leads to over visiting of the location resulting in an unintended overall negative impact.

Each wildlife encounter is a unique moment in time. Things are always changing and the chances of someone finding the same subjects, in the same location, doing the same things years later are highly unlikely. It makes more sense for me to describe the situation or behavior shown so the viewer can better understand why I am sharing the image.
