With over 35 years of field experience, Rick Hobbs is an international award-winning photographer who has dedicated his life to capturing the beauty and fragility of the natural world. His photographs have been published in many popular books, magazines, calendars and a major newspaper, and Rick was featured in photographing wildlife videos for The Minnesota Lottery, Georgia Public Television, and Animal Planet. For years, Rick’s images were used in national campaigns for Sprint, and his inspirational line of framed prints, Visual Expressions, combined photography with motivational and spiritual messages.
Beyond his artistry, Rick has been a passionate educator and advocate. He has donated photographs to conservation groups, presented programs for camera clubs, the Boy Scouts of America, and the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). He has also designed and led many photo tours, helping others experience and capture inspirational photographs of wildlife and nature firsthand.
Rick’s commitment to community education led him to create and host a regional photography conference on a college campus, drawing over 1,000 photographers from multiple states to learn from top professionals. He has also organized multiple weekend nature and wildlife seminars in hotel conference settings, bringing together leading photographers to teach the craft.
Rick’s work blends artistry, education, and activism. His photographs are not only visual records of rare and beautiful moments but also powerful tools for storytelling and conservation. Through his images, teaching, and leadership, Rick continues to connect people with wildlife and nature, especially those who may never experience it firsthand, and inspire awareness and action for its protection.
